NC Prescribed Burn Act
This act was established by the General Assembly in 1999 and has been in effect since
1/1/2000. It recognizes the need for prescribed fire in the state and its benefits, establishes criteria for 'Certified Burners'
and limits liability for burners as long as they follow procedures established in the Act. The act can be downloaded
on the tab to the right.
Who is a Certified Burner? A prescribed burner who has completed the training and certification
described in NC Burn Act.
Why become a 'Certified Burner'?
It provides training in NC burn laws and establishes credibility for the burner. Certified burners can lead
burns under the NC prescribed burn act which provides liability protection.
