North Carolina Prescribed Fire Council

The mission of the North Carolina Prescribed Fire Council is to foster cooperation among all parties in North Carolina with an interest or stake in prescribed fire.

NC Prescribed fire council Annual Meeting

The 2017 NC Prescribed Fire Council Annual Meeting will be a joint meeting with the Consortium of Appalachian Fire Managers and Scientists on September 6-7, 2017 at the Hyatt Place hotel located in Asheville, NC.

Final Agenda

Registration: Registration is now closed for this year's meeting. We will accept walk-in registration for attendees in Asheville but plan to bring your own lunch since we won't be able to guarantee that you will receive a meal. The field trip is full.

Cancellation: Contact Susan (susan_miller@fws.gov) if you are not able to attend. All, but $5 of your registration can be returned up to August 30, 2017. NO refunds after August 30, 2017.

Continuing Forestry Education (CFE) Credits: Five Category 1 CFE credits will be available for both the Indoor Sessions and Field Tour (# of credits to be awarded is pending).

Hotel Information: The Hyatt Place in Asheville (1-888-492-8847, 199 Haywood Street, Asheville) is the official hotel for the annual meeting.  A block of rooms has been reserved for the nights of September 5-7 at the rate of $117.00 plus tax per night.  This price is only good if you make your reservations by August 7th. See this attachment for more details on how to reserve a room at the group rate.

Meals: Registration includes an Awards Luncheon during the September 6th indoor session.

Social: An evening Social with refreshments and snacks will be held on September 6th. Details coming soon. 

Field Trip Information:  The field trip will occur during the day of Thursday, September 7, 2017. We will meet at 7:45 am at the Hyatt Place hotel in Asheville and depart by 8:00 am. We will visit the Green River Gamelands, Lake Lure, and the Chimney Rock area. More field tour details will be posted soon.

Safety Items/Field Equipment:  Please dress appropriate for field conditions and weather on the September 7th field tour. The field trip will occur rain or shine.
